Will All Of Our Technology Be Created By College Dropouts?

These days, some college students are seeing better benefits to dropping out of school rather than graduating. This is a paradox that is sure to rock the view of at least some individuals; it seems that college dropouts are the new cool kids—at least in some circles.

Take the story of Ari Weinstein as an example. The Wall Street Journal reported that Mr. Weinstein was offered $100k to quite college after just his freshman year at MIT. Why? Because he is an incredibly gifted technology expert and was sought after by some of the largest tech companies on the planet. Weinstein created his first website at the age of seven and has been completely in love with technology ever since. That kind of talent does not go unnoticed.

Of course, not all of us can follow the story of Weinstein or Mark Zuckerberg, but there are more than a few college dropouts now populating the technology world. It has young people excited for the opportunities and the older crowd perhaps a little worried by the prospect of it all. After all, it was not that long ago that being a college dropout was seen as a mark of shame.

So what are all these college dropouts creating in their spare time? Well, it may not come as much of a surprise that much of what they are making is targeted at their own generation. They want to make the kinds of products that people their own age want to use. As such, many are using their time to create social and sharing applications and platforms.

Some of these young people are going to work for some of the largest technology companies that exist on our planet. When they do this, they help those companies consolidate even more intellect and power at the top of these gigantic companies. At the same time, they are often helping those companies create better outreach to a younger generation. They are also making it possible for them to fund more projects that can help expand the usage of their various platforms. All in all, no one is complaining about the arrangement.

As a society we should be looking forward to the next things that these young people are posed to create. It seems that they have nearly boundless energy and creativity in them. This means that we will all soon benefit from their genius.
